1st January 2025 – The Beginning of Something Special. Maybe.

I’m sat here on the sofa, drinking tea out of one of my many Emma Bridgewater cups (tea tastes better in a a 1/2 pint mug) talking to Donkey (who is in fact our cocker spaniel – Lottie), feeling rather sick from eating a super large chunk, of the fridge cold, dairy milk bar I hid from my son and looking out the window at the wonderfully dreary weather knowing at some point I need to take off my odd pyjamas, which consist of an oversized tshirt and faded bottoms that I feel like I’ve had for about 15 years, and take the dog for a walk, although I cant think of anything worse right now.

Note to self – buy new pyjamas!!!

We had friends over last night to see in the New Year and I reckon I had about 5.5 hours sleep. Everyone else is still in bed. I had to get up to feed the animals before they started eating each other and I’m feeling rather resentful of the sleeping husband and newly turned 7 year old both still in bed while I’m sat here listening to Lottie chewing her own foot.

We had an utterly ridiculous 2024. I mean it was nuts. I did one of those recap reels yesterday and couldn’t quite believe just how incredible the last 12 months have been and how bloody fast they’ve gone by too.

And I know you aren’t meant to gloat about all the good stuff BUT it can’t always be down and gloomy.

Bad stuff does happen. We’ve had our fair share but it just so happens that last year was one of the best EVER because we saw John Mayer at the 02, Plaza Suite with SJP at The Savoy, Jacob Collier at the 02, an audience with Pete Wicks and separately an audience with Gunter Steiner, smashed some shit in a rage room, Jenson (our eldest son) passed his driving test, went to Paris (hen do pt.1), Salon Privé, went to London feat Magic Mike (hen do pt.2), got married in Tuscany – a dream come true, my sister became the best wedding singer of 2024 and I found a passion for wedding planning I didn’t know existed. We watched the Opera in Verona, got a puppy, had multiple weddings to attend (so much love this year), took a train ride on the Bluebell railway, Jenson turned 18, went to the North Pole to meet Father Christmas and finally ended it all with my new car and a reg plate which my sneaky husband (it’s been 6 months and I still get a eeeeek moment when I say this) actually purchased back in 2021 and had been keeping as a surprise ever since – MR5 2 SLO. He has been Mr 02 Slo for many years and I feel privileged to finally be part of the 02 Slo family.

Which also reminds me, we bought a domain for a our wedding website and I am fully aware that I am rubbish at keeping on top of life admin however I’ve had the reminder to renew it or loose it and because of that here we are Mrs 2 Slo aka Gemma Cohen, writing something about nothing on 1st January 2025 with a dog that’s bored of being ignored while I typed this and has fallen asleep on my foot, now I’ve got warm toes and a cold cup of tea!

I’m looking forward to the year ahead, muddy paws, full hearts, new adventures, the Surrey mum I’ve become and everything in between xoxo

Gemma
