If you’ve ever felt the thrill of the hunt—the tension, the desperation, the caffeine-fueled madness—then you’ve probably either played Pokémon Go or tried to find a Pop Mart “Have a Seat Labubu” in London.
It all started innocently enough. I saw it online, well actually I will blame Olivia Attwood for her plushy obsession of these tiny Labubu figures- the ugly dolls with pointy ears, a wide smile and serrated teeth-I was smitten. I had to have it. I didn’t want it—I needed it. You know, for emotional support.
Day 1: Confidence & Coffee
I searched the internet top to bottom with way too much optimism as I began my journey.
I strutted around every search engine I could think of like a seasoned collector, only to be met with the same result – “Out of Stock”. They had Labubus. Just not the Have a Seat one.
I considered buying a random blind box , but my luck is notoriously cursed—I’d end up with a weird frog in a tutu or something. (No offense to the tutu frog fans.)
Day 2: Desperation Creeps In
Next up: StockX. Pop Mart section. Sleek. Chic. Devoid of any reasonably costed seated Labubus. They did have plenty of stocked plushies but well above the RRP and I wasn’t that desperate, yet!
By this point, I had the Pop Mart store locator memorized and was preparing for a stock alert and in person trip to the city.
Day 3: Bargaining with the Universe
eBay and Amazon. My last hope.
I entered into every search, my eyes scanning the reviews like a hawk with retail ADHD. And then… I saw it. A tiny seated figure. Smug. Cool. Possibly mocking me with its tiny crossed legs.
It was a decoy. They were all fakes! or similar-looking figures from a different series. I nearly wept in the corner next to my sons plush vegetable collection – carrot-y, sweetcorn-y and tomato-y.
Day 4: Triumph on the Central Line
Just when I was about to give up and resign myself to eternal Labubu-less misery, it was office day Thursday so I took a chance. I hopped on the Central Line fueled by a last-ditch dose of hope and a protein bar.
Destination: Oxford Street.
When I arrived at the Pop Mart store, it wasn’t a walk-in affair—there was a queue. A full-on, snaking-outside-the-door, “is this Disneyland?” style line just to enter the store. I forgot it was mid-Easter holiday madness.
But I queued. Oh, I queued with the patience of a saint and the determination of a collector on a mission.
Finally inside, I locked eyes on the holy grail: a freshly replenished display of “Have a Seat Labubu” figures.
And not just the original—there was a Macaron edition too.
My inner gremlin squealed.
But fate wasn’t done testing me. Another queue—this time to pay. And I queued again. Because Labubu was worth it.
I walked out with not one, but TWO Labubus in hand: victorious, smug, and ever so slightly dehydrated.
Forget eBay. Forget surrender. I earned my fluffy sass monsters fair and square—and I’ve never felt more powerful.

Moral of the Story?

May the Labubu odds be ever in your favor.
